Ten Thousand Villages’ mission is to provide vital, fair income to craftspeople in the developing world by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. The sale of these products helps to provide a fair wage for the artisans and enables them to pay for food, education, health care, and housing.

Ten Thousand Villages is located at 10 College Street across from Pritchard Park and next to the restaurant, Tupelo Honey. Their hours are 10-8 Monday-Saturday, and 10-4 on Sunday

Women’s Coping Skills Group for Survivors of Sexual Trauma

Our VOICE Counselor, Melanie Gordon-Calabrese, LPC and Master’s in Counseling student, Laurie Jackson will be offering a six-week group counseling series for women . The group will be held Wednesdays from 11:00 to 12:30pm, at the Our VOICE office.

This group is focused on empowering survivors of sexual trauma by increasing understanding of trauma, its effects, and daily coping for trauma symptoms. Sessions will address these topics through education, art, and connection with other survivors with the goal of creating a coping foundation for living and healing. Member confidentiality and creating a safe space is of the utmost importance, therefore this will be a closed group. Potential members will be screened prior to the group start date. Special Screening of “Anita” Documentary at the Fine Arts Theatre

August 18, 2014 Asheville, NC – Our VOICE, Inc. in partnership with the Fine Arts Theatre are proud to present a special screening of the documentary film “Anita” on Thursday, August 28th at 7pm at the Fine Arts Theatre. The film highlights the experiences of Anita Hill, now a Professor of Law at Brandeis University, who sparked a national conversation on sexual harassment by speaking out against her harasser.

Directed by Academy Award winner Freida Mock, the film expertly weaves together in-depth interviews with footage of the hearings to bring viewers back to a time when those who spoke out against sexual harassment were not just discredited but often vilified. The screening takes place one week before Our VOICE’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, 40 Years of Starting Conversations on September 4th at the Diana Wortham Theatre where Ms. Anita Hill will be the keynote speaker.

We cordially invite you to join us on  September 4th, 2014  for Our VOICE’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, 40 Years of Starting Conversations at the Diana Wortham Theatre featuring keynote speaker Anita Hill, Brandeis University Professor of Law.  Ms. Hill started a national conversation by disclosing her experience of workplace sexual harassment and focused the country’s attention on a difficult topic too often met with avoidance and silence.
