Project WEST NC
Working to End Human Trafficking in North Carolina
North Carolina is among the top 8 states for reports of human trafficking cases in 2017.
A lack of public knowledge about human trafficking and limited resources and services for survivors ultimately results in an increased prevalence of human trafficking. Human trafficking will continue to be a problem until we focus on increasing access to services and reducing stigma of those most at risk, especially immigrants, people of color, sex workers, people within the LGBTQ+ community, and people who use drugs. This, therefore, underscores the urgency for implementation of Project WEST NC.
PROJECT WEST NC IS WORKING TO:
- Provide services and support to survivors
- Raise awareness through outreach and education
- Assist survivors through our Rapid Response Team covering Buncombe, Henderson, McDowell, Madison, Transylvania, and Yancey counties
- Address underlying causes through our Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce
