Host a Workshop

Are you interested in facilitating a Client Workshops with Our VOICE?

The vision of the Our VOICE volunteer-facilitated art workshops is to offer a space for survivors who are in a grounded, healthy place to enhance and further their healing journey. These workshops are intended to complement personal work participants have already initiated and to promote continued self-directed healing.

The following process will be used to train, screen, and collaborate with potential community volunteers who wish to provide survivor workshops through Our Voice:

Step 1: Facilitator training:

Potential workshop providers must receive training in working with Our Voice clients through attending the Our VOICE Advocate Training. Click here to view the schedule for advocate trainings. Topics covered in advocate training include:

  • Overview of Trauma and Sexual Violence
  • Orientation to Our VOICE history and services
  • Client Confidentiality
  • Working with Groups and Boundaries

The cost associated with this facilitator training is $20 per person to cover administrative costs.

Step 2: Proposal:

Participants who have completed the training must  submit a proposal for the workshop they would like to provide to Our Voice clients. You can find the proposal form here [will post shortly].  All workshops must be:

  • Free of charge
  • Geared to survivors of sexual violence
  • Facilitative of healing
  • Workshops are to be held at the Our VOICE offices
  • Facilitators are required to bring all of their own materials
  • Facilitators are required to clean up at the conclusion of their workshop
  • Facilitators are not allowed to market goods or services to participants during their workshops

Adherence to these parameters does not guarantee acceptance of your workshop.

Our Voice staff will review each proposal on a case by case basis. If your proposal meets a specific need for our agency, then we will contact  you to explore the possibility of collaboration.

Step 3: Collaboration planning:

During this phase we will explore the details of the proposed collaboration, including the resources each party will supply. For example, we will determine which Our Voice staff would collaborate with you, and which roles each party would take. We would also discuss your schedule availability, along with that of your proposed clients and the Our Voice staff with whom you will be collaborating.

Step 4: Collaboration

If it is determined that the collaboration, as defined, will be mutually beneficial, and that all necessary resources are in place, Our Voice will assist you in reserving space in the FJC for your workshop. Please be aware that clinical space is a commodity at the FJC, and this scheduling may occur some months in advance of your workshop.
