Tender Lady Final-8x11 web rezWomansong, Asheville, NC’s largest and longest running women’s community chorus, invites you to its fall concert, “Tender Lady” at Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church, 701 Warren Wilson Rd., Swannanoa, NC 28778, on Friday, October 23rd at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 24th at 3 p.m. The concert is a benefit for two extraordinary local nonprofits that serve women—Our Voice and Helpmate.

“Tender Lady” will feature uplifting, entertaining and empowering songs with a focus on women. The title song—written by Margie Adam and made famous by Cris Williamson—speaks to the pain many women endure and the power of music to help ease that pain. The concert will feature “There’s Hope,” an inspiring song by contemporary singer India Arie, along with other new pieces and beloved songs from Womansong’s repertoire. Music sign language interpretation will enrich the concert experience and make it accessible to the hearing impaired.

Directed by Debbie Nordeen with Assistant Directors, Althea Gonzalez and Sarah Rubin, Womansong is a 75-member community chorus that celebrates the unity, diversity and empowerment of women through musical expression. Womansong promotes social change through its New Start Program, which offers scholarships for women in WNC to improve their lives through education or training, and also provides small grants to “fill in the gap” for women in need when other funds are not available.
