Events

Our VOICE has several annual events that offer ways for community members to get involved. If you would like to be a part of any of the planning committees or would like more information about any of the events, please email us or call (828) 252-0562.

Our annual events include:

Walk-A-Mile Asheville is the People’s March Against Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence. This event is held each Spring in Downtown Asheville. Hundreds of men, women, and children, walk a mile through downtown Asheville in solidarity with all who have been impacted by sexual violence!

W.E.A.R. Asheville (We Each Are Responsible) is a winter benefit similar to “Empty Bowls”. Guests purchase a ticket and are able to choose a  piece of handmade jewelry to take home with them. This event is a great opportunity to purchase a unique piece of jewelry as a gift for someone before the hectic holiday season – and benefit Our VOICE in the process!

The Heart Works Survivor’s Art Show features art work from Our VOICE clients and others in our community who have been affected by sexual violence. Our VOICE is proud to offer the opportunity for those impacted by sexual assault and abuse a channel through which they can share their experiences and heal through the powerful vehicle of art.

Nourish the Soul – Postcards allows women to create handmade works of art in the form of postcards that will be placed in hospital bags. These bags are given to victims of rape and sexual assault that present in the Mission Hospitals’ Emergency Room. Words of hope, healing, and encouragement are shared by strangers through the empowering medium of art.
