Consent is Everything
Program Overview
Consent Is Everything is a prevention education training designed to help participants understand consent, boundaries, and respectful communication in everyday interactions. The program explores how consent functions across personal, social, and community settings and emphasizes that consent is an ongoing, mutual process rooted in respect and choice.
This training moves beyond simple definitions to examine how consent is impacted by power, control, social norms, and context. Participants gain practical tools to recognize boundary violations, communicate clearly, and support others when consent is not respected. Consent Is Everything is grounded in trauma informed, prevention focused principles and is designed to be accessible, engaging, and relevant.
Consent Is Everything was developed by Our Voice as part of its broader commitment to preventing sexual violence and building safer, more respectful communities.
Who This Training Is For
Consent Is Everything is designed for adult community members, parents and caregivers, community groups and organizations, workplace and volunteer teams, and colleges and youth serving spaces.
Age appropriate versions of this training are available for middle school, high school, and college audiences. Content is adapted to meet participants where they are developmentally and culturally.
What the Training Covers
Consent Is Everything provides a comprehensive introduction to consent and boundaries while addressing how misunderstandings and harmful norms contribute to sexual violence.
Participants learn what consent is and what it is not, why consent must be clear, informed, and mutual, how consent can be given, withdrawn, or violated, the role of boundaries in healthy relationships, different types of boundaries and how to navigate them, the difference between boundaries and control, how power and social dynamics influence consent, the difference between flirting and harassment, and how to respond when boundaries are crossed.
The training uses interactive discussion, relatable examples, and visual tools to support learning and engagement.
Why This Training Matters
Consent is the foundation of healthy relationships and safer communities. When consent is misunderstood or minimized, harm becomes more likely and survivors are less likely to be supported.
Many people are never explicitly taught what consent looks like in real life situations. Consent Is Everything addresses this gap by offering clear, practical education that helps participants recognize harm, challenge harmful norms, and communicate more effectively.
By building a shared understanding of consent and boundaries, communities are better equipped to prevent sexual violence, support survivors, and promote accountability.
How the Training Works
Consent Is Everything is delivered as an interactive, discussion based workshop that encourages participation and reflection. The training uses real world scenarios to help participants apply concepts to everyday situations.
Training elements include facilitated group discussion, scenario based learning, visual and interactive educational tools, and opportunities for reflection and skill building.
The training can be delivered virtually or in person and can be adapted to fit different group sizes and time frames.
What Participants Will Gain
By the end of the training, participants will have a clear understanding of consent and boundaries, be able to recognize when consent is present or absent, feel more confident communicating boundaries, understand how power and control affect consent, know how to support others when boundaries are violated, and gain tools to promote a culture of respect and accountability.
Participants leave with practical knowledge they can apply in their personal lives, workplaces, and communities.
