Break The Silence 2022

The Break the Silence Speaker Series is Our VOICE’s largest fundraising event of the year. The series highlights the voice of a national leader, activist or survivor who has worked to improve systems in responding to and ending sexual assault or human trafficking in our communities.

For the Break the Silence Speaker Series, Our VOICE hosts brave trailblazers each year who share their stories about healing from sexual violence. This year, our honorary speaker is Cyntoia Brown Long, a survivor of human trafficking who is raising awareness about this growing public health problem and how prevention requires community education and individualized support.

We feel that this is such an important event that brings awareness to the dynamics of sexual violence and gives folks from all types of experiences the opportunity to come together to learn and feel supported.

Our goal is to offer this event in a way where everyone feels welcome, and any barriers to participation are lowered. To achieve this, we are offering ASL and Spanish translation virtually, as well as access to tickets at no cost. Please email rvoice@ourvoicenc.org to receive a no-cost ticket.

For fully vaccinated individuals, this event will take place in-person (masks required); for those unvaccinated and others not interested in attending an in-person, this event will be streamed live. A Zoom link will be provided to all ticket holders on the morning of the event to the email address you provided for this purchase.

Para la serie de oradores Break the Silence, Our VOICE acoge cada año a valientes pioneros que comparten sus historias sobre la curación de la violencia sexual. Este año, nuestra oradora de honor es Cyntoia Brown Long, una superviviente de la trata de personas que está concienciando sobre este creciente problema de salud pública y sobre cómo la prevención requiere la educación de la comunidad y el apoyo individualizado.

Creemos que se trata de un evento muy importante que sensibiliza sobre la dinámica de la violencia sexual y ofrece a personas con todo tipo de experiencias la oportunidad de reunirse para aprender y sentirse apoyadas.
